This was a tree hollow that was cut from a felled tree and kept by my uncle. I stumbled across it in his workshop and was taken with it, seeing it displayed in such a different way to how id ever seen it. The heavily textured bark almost making it look like ravines running down the side of a volcano or alien landscape. The front edge cut to show the contrast of the dark heart wood of the tree.
It's a mixed media piece using pencil, fine liners and watercolour paints. Framed in a ebony stained real wood frame which was also made by me.
